I cofounded this magazine in 2023 with a longtime collaborator and friend. The mission of STOCK is to encounter, exchange, and transform the conversations we have about food in Chicago and the broader Midwest.

Substitute Teacher is a newsletter about food, eating, and the frustrating yet fascinating effects that chronic illness can have on one’s culinary life. I may only publish sporadically, but school is always in session.

I’ve led and collaborated on too many great projects to list, but here are a few favorites.
Published Writing
My first published work was the epitome of indie and hyper-local: the inaugural restaurant review for my middle school’s student newspaper. The next was an opinion letter against animal testing that made it into print in the Courier-Post. Community, food, and advocacy remain common threads in my work, but now my platforms reach a bit further afield. I’ve written for legacy print media brands, Internet 2.0 sites, personal and professional blogs, in-house and freelance for niche trade audiences, and for nonprofits.
I still pitch stories to publications and am always interested in publishing lifestyle writing about anything from women’s basketball to mushroom farming in rural Spain. Drop me a note, editors!
